How to play it
Why this exercise

This exercise pushes your speed without losing control. 4 notes per click is the speed you hear in fast guitar solos.

  1. Play 1-2-3-4 with 4 notes per click (sixteenth notes).
  2. Rotate the finger order each week: change the sequence so your hand does not get stuck in one setup.
  3. Finger permutations: 1234, 1243, 1324, 1342, 1423, 1432, 2134, 2143, 2314, 2341, 2413, 2431, 3124, 3142, 3214, 3241, 3412, 3421, 4123, 4132, 4213, 4231, 4312, 4321.
  4. Start slow (60 BPM) — that is 16 notes per bar, so take your time.
  5. Accent the first note of each group of 4 a little more. It helps you keep the beat.
  6. If your picking hand gets tired, loosen your grip on the pick.
Today's tip

Play 1-2-3-4 on each string, 4 notes per click. Keep the sound clean.
